At last, after a period of exclusivity on the PS4 following its launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is now available on both the PC and Xbox One. The game, which only features the campaign missions of the original, launched just over a month ago. At the time, the game was only available on the PS4, but this exclusivity period was only for 1 month.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Comes to PC & Xbox
Unlike other remasters of older Call of Duty games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered doesn’t include any of the multiplayer content of the original; the game is campaign-only. This is most likely so as not to compete with other major Call of Duty games which are currently booming. (Namely, Modern Warfare and its battle royale mode Warzone.) The game was initially only available on the PS4. However, now that its 1-month exclusivity period has ended, it is available on the PC and Xbox One.
PC players should, however, be aware that the game is only available through one specific platform. Although the original game is available on Steam, don’t expect to see Modern Warfare 2 Remastered on there anytime soon. At present, the new release is only available on Battle.net. The remaster boasts newly-improved textures, remastered audio, and 4K support, among other things, so it should certainly look much better than the original on PC.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered won’t be the only Call of Duty to launch in 2020. Later on this year, Activision will be releasing their annual new Call of Duty title. The most recent rumours suggest that this game will take place during the Vietnam War. (Indeed, it has also been rumoured that the game will be a spin-off of the Black Ops series.) However, Activision has yet to release any official information regarding this upcoming game. Given the ongoing success of Modern Warfare and Warzone, Activision isn’t likely to make any formal announcements until much closer to launch.
