Microsoft and inXile Entertainment have announced that Wasteland 3 backer beta is now live. Bug hunting and post-apocalyptic Colorado are both available with some handy tools for the testers.
Fans who backed Wasteland 3 on Fig can now access the backer beta which will let them play the game but also report the bugs that are inevitable in the testing phase. Only those who pledged $25 or more will be able to participate.
Those eligible for the backer beta will receive a mail with a Wasteland 3 beta key, which will need to be redeemed on Steam. However, those who participated in alpha testing will not get a key - they will immediately have access to the backer beta.
Developers warned that updating from the previous builds to the current one might be problematic, in which case the tester will need to uninstall and reinstall the game.
Running into such proverbial insects of digital nature will undoubtedly be annoying but keep in mind that this is by no means a full release. However, playing in the test can result in a better experience for everyone later on, thanks to bug reporting.
Beta testers can do so through either the Report Issues option on the Wasteland 3 menu or the Beta Discussion forum on inXile Entertainment's boards.
This beta test will not include the full game, as one may or may not expect, and is being run for testing purposes only. Players will have access to character creation and the first few areas but traversing through them will not be done through a world map. The rangers will instead be warped from one zone to another.
