The unlockable QuakeCon mode gives players a taste of what it would be like to be surrounded by adoring fans while playing Doom Eternal. The mode adds background chatter and cheers to your playthrough, which somehow makes the experience even more fun to blast through. The crowd gets especially rowdy when the Doom Slayer pulls off one of his patented Glory Kill moves on a defeated demon. People can be heard whistling and shouting as Doomguy tears into his prey. Honestly, it may be the most entertaining upgrade in the new game.
A lot of the audio, if not all of it, seems to be taken from or inspired by the QuakeCon presentation where 2016's Doom was first announced. Some fans on Twitter have even reported recognizing similar audience reactions from that event. In case you're wondering how to get this hilarious (and hype) unlockable mode for yourself, we've got the details here.
The Praetor Suit brings QuakeCon to you
Unlike other cheats in the game, this one can't be found in the wild and must be unlocked, and it all depends on the Praetor Suit. Much like in 2016's Doom, the Doom Slayer's Praetor Suit can be upgraded as the game progresses. The first game featured upgrade tokens that could be found on dead marines throughout the game. In Doom Eternal, these upgrades are made possible through finding tokens held by the ghostly Sentinels. While these upgrades will give the Doom Slayer several different new abilities, it's the end result of finding all of these tokens that interests us today.
Once you have enough Praetor Suit upgrade tokens, return to your homebase in the Fortress of Doom. There, you access your terminal and go to the "Suit" upgrade screen. Purchasing every upgrade will automatically unlock the QuakeCon Cheat Code disk.
And there you have it. Now you can rip and tear for an unseen legion of adoring fans.
