Altered Carbon Tabletop RPG Clears Kickstarter Funding in 2 Hours

Expect Altered Carbon on shelves by this summer.

Altered Carbon, the Netflix original series, is heading to your table thanks to Kickstarter and Hunters Entertainment. Hunters has a long track record of successful Kickstarter campaigns, including Overlight and Kids on Bikes.
In case Altered Carbon is new to you, it’s a dark cyberpunk noir, based in a far off dystopian future. It has all the usual bells and whistles of the genre – massive inequality, megacorporations that rule over people, and if real life is looking worse you can always move into cyberspace. What makes Altered Carbon unique is the concept of sleeves and immortality. If you’re rich, and I mean really, really rich, you can store your consciousness on a small disk called a deck. That disk can then be inserted into any body, or sleeve, of your choosing and presto – you’ve gone from elderly to a spry 20-year-old. Those that can afford new sleeves can live through centuries, hoarding power and wealth until they’re a dystopian god. This premise is the base of both the Netflix show and the novel of the same name, written by Richard K. Morgan.
If this already sounds exciting to you – and you need some cyberpunk to hold you out until 2077 releases later this year – I have some great news. Altered Carbon hit its base goal only two hours after being announced. In fact, it’s already hit one of its stretch goals, netting anyone picking up the Stack Edition of the game a foldable Bay City map.
According to the Kickstarter, Altered Carbon is set to launch digitally this upcoming April with physical copies on shelves by July. You can check out the game’s Kickstarter page here.
