LIFTOFF: DRONE RACING HEADS TO XBOX ONE, PS4 IN 2020

Liftoff Drone Racing

Astragon Entertainment and Lugus Studios announced that Liftoff: Drone Racing will be making its way to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 at some point in 2020. An actual release window (much less a release date) wasn’t made available, but we do know that the racing game will be console exclusive for now.
According to the press release the game is scheduled to drop at some point later in 2020, but it’s obviously not going to be in the spring given that they’ll be using that time to demo the game to the public at some of the upcoming enthusiast events, including PAX East, which is set to take place in Boston, Massachusetts between February 27th and March 1st, 2020 in just a few weeks’ time.
The announcement did come bearing a few media gifts in the form of screenshots and a teaser trailer. However, the trailer does not contain any actual gameplay, but is more like a preview of what you can expect from the racing and stag designs. You can check it out below.

It’s hard to get a grip on what the visuals are like for the game based on the announcement trailer, but some of the screenshots for the game offer a look at what some of the outdoor stages will look like at the different times of the day, as well as the LED accessories to help light up the sky during the night stages when the drones take flight.
Visually the in-game screenshots are passably decent. It’s about what you would expect from an AA game made by a small studio out of Belgium.

One thing that I do think is pretty neat is that the drones leave behind colored trailers, highlighting their flight path for other racers.
The neon glow really stands out in the more realistic-themed stages, so it helps with quickly identifying opponents on the race track.
Beyond that, the game will feature the ability to customize your very own drones, enabling you to modify the frames, accessories, colors, and more, all based on licensed parts.

Liftoff: Drone Racing will come with a variety of modes, including an online multiplayer mode, assisted tutorial modes for neophytes, and both day and night time iterations for each stage, which will surely give gamers a different set of challenges to overcome when it comes to recognizing turns, track patterns, and obstacles.
Part of me is interested to learn more about this game because we didn’t receive many noteworthy racing games during eighth gen outside of Wreckfest. We’ll definitely get to see more when the game appears at PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts. For more info feel free to visit the official Liftoff website
