Miles will be coming face to face with his father's killer in Spider-Man 2.
One of Marvel's Spider-Man's biggest villains will be making a return in the sequel, as it's been confirmed that Martin Li (Mr. Negative) will be a big part of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's story alongside Venom and Kraven.
Mr. Negative's first appearance was revealed in a trailer during a Spider-Man 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, although he's not in his wibbly wobbly superpower form. However, it was revealed by the panelists that Mr. Negative will return, and that he'll be a big part of Miles Morales' story. For those that played the first game, you'll know that Mr. Negative was responsible for the death of Miles' father, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will see him come face to face with his father's killer for the first time.
In addition to the reveal, Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter talked a little bit about his character meeting his father's killer for the first time and how it felt during development. According to Jeter, it was actually quite the surprise to see Mr. Negtaive's return and they they "didn't think we'd be going there". They also explained that there "was a lot of emotion on set", which suggest think might get a little intense between Miles and Mr. Negative in the game.

As for what role Martin Li plays in the story, that's a mystery right now. We can see from the trailer that he doesn't appear to have his powers after he was stripped of them in the first game, though he could have potentially regained them at some point. Considering he seemed to lose his villainous tendencies before he was imprisoned, it's possible he could be involved in a more emotional and grounded story arc for Miles, rather than return as a supervillain bent on revenge.
Whatever the case, the supervillain count of Spider-Man 2 has been steadily rising since it's first reveal, as this latest trailer also gave us a new look at Kraven, Lizard, and our best look yet at in-game Venom. Spider-Man 2 is definitely going to be a tough ol' time for Peter, Miles and the gang, and we'll get to see how it play out when the game launches on October 20 later this year.
