A Steam page for Super Bomberman R 2 appeared, which reveals that the game will come out on September 13, 2023. This’ll be the newest entry of the Super Bomberman series, and it will have new adventures and game modes. Konami boasted that it will have the “largest content volume” in the history of the series.
Super Bomberman R 2 will have support for a total of twelve languages, including English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese. It will offer both online and offline multiplayer play. There will also be a new battle mode, Castle. Castle will be an asymmetrical battle mode. Those on the Castle side have to defend a treasure chest and the Attack side tries to claim it. It will also include the old Standard, Grand Prix, and Battle 64 modes. Players will also be able to edit their own Castle stages and share them online.
Konami first revealed Super Bomberman R 2 during the Nintendo Direct Mini in June 2022. Its trailer revealed the various game modes, as well as the story mode. In the story mode for Super Bomberman R2, it will introduce various new planets. Along with “Ellons,” who are new allies in the series, players have to try and protect the universe from an unknown threat.
The Bomberman series debuted in 1983, which multiple sequels and spin-offs and adaptations over the years. Players compete against each other or an AI by strategically placing down bombs. Aside from killing people (including the person who put down the bomb), these bombs can destroy obstacles to open up more of the map.
Super Bomberman R 2 will come out on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam on September 13, 2023.
