You’ll still be able to play, share, and create in Dreams, but no new updates will release after support ends.
LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule has announced that it is ending support for its video game creation system Dreams on September 1, 2023. This is because the team is shifting its “focus to an exciting new project”.
As stated in its blog post, you’ll still be able to play, create, and share projects after support is pulled, but there won’t be any more updates. To do this, Dreams will migrate to a new server in late May, which means that there will be a new storage limit of up to 5GB, though existing creations will not count toward this.
You’ll also be able to delete creations once the server has migrated, as archiving will be removed as a feature. Any archived creations you have will be added back to your saved creations where you can choose to delete them.

As for why Media Molecule is ending support, it said, “We’re very proud of Dreams and grateful for the way you, the community, have embraced all it has to offer. Whilst we’ve always had the desire to build on the foundation of Dreams and expand the experience, when reviewing our plans we were not able to define a sustainable path. We made the decision to change the studio’s product strategy. This is obviously disappointing to people inside and outside of Mm, however, we are incredibly excited for what will come next.”
Between now and September, when support comes to a close, Dreams will still be releasing its final updates. It has plans to update animation and the create mode, while also – as mentioned prior – migrating the server. As for the new project, Media Molecule confirmed that it is not Dreams 2 or related to the Dreams IP in any way, so support isn’t ending to make space for a sequel or adjacent game. What Media Molecule has in store for the future is unclear, and all we can do right now is wait to find out.
