Destiny 2's rewards system to be overhauled, Bungie say

Bungie announced that they'll be shaking up Destiny 2's rewards system in order to give players more reasons to immerse themselves in the game. Or Eververse.

According to the latest This Week at Bungie post, the dev isn't fond of the current balance of rewards, so they'll be doing something about it.
Among the announced Destiny 2 changes is Transmogrification, which will let players turn their armour into Universal Ornaments. This will be done either via in-game grinding or Silver, or at least that's the plan for now, and should be live sometime in Year 4.
Bungie conceded that they never managed to consistently "deliver an aspirational pursuit for armor". Moreover, Destiny 2 players will have to grind this one out, as Season Pass and/or Eververse just won't do.
They gave an example of the Eververse Armor from Season 11, which has been itemised into an aspirational activity.
Raids, Trials and Dungeons will also get a boost and reward players with power, items and vanity, and each Aspirational Activity will revolve at least around one accessory.
Destiny 2's team is currently working on Adept Weapons for Trials of Osiris, with Trials confirmed to be getting new, previously unreleased Amor each year.
These changes will be coming pretty soon and the next Raid will come with brand new Amor, Weapons and Exotic Accessories. Unfortunately, Bungie didn't drop any hints here, so we'll have to wait and see.

Core playlists, i.e. Strikes, Gambit and Crucible, will be getting a new Armor set , whose decals and shaders will be specific to an activity. Each season will add a new Pursuit Weapon and Destiny 2 players should be earning way more Bright Dust than today.
