Assassin’s Creed Valhalla revealed it’s “gameplay” trailer last week, which essentially just showcased a bunch of in-game rendered cutscenes and didn’t really reveal any actual gameplay. Of course, Ashraf Ismail did take to Twitter to say that players”rightfully expected to see more” from the game. Now we’ve learned that the game is supposed to run at 30fps, even on the next-generation Xbox Series X.
Eurogamer Portugal spoke with Ubisoft after becoming curious about the game’s performance following the gameplay trailer. We’ve previously learned that the Xbox Series X’s target performance is to hit 60 FPS and Up to 120 FPS at 4K resolutions.
A Ubisoft spokesperson tells Eurogamer in this Google Translated quote “Ubisoft has always been committed to exploring new technologies, taking advantage of the capabilities of new consoles to deliver the most immersive experience possible, which is why we are excited to be collaborating with Microsoft to bring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to the Xbox Series X,”
“Currently, we can guarantee that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will run at least 30 FPS.” it continues, “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit from faster loading times, allowing players to immerse themselves in history and the world without friction. Finally, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit of improved graphics made possible by the Xbox Series X, and we can’t wait to see the beautiful world we’re creating in stunning 4K resolution.”
The quote ends with “We will have a lot more to show you about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the near future, so stay tuned for more information soon!”
It certainly appears as if the game, at its current stage in development hits at least 30fps at 4k resolution. Whether this will improve at a later date as we get closer to launch or not is another thing. But it certainly sounds a touch disappointing for those expecting more from a title being marketed to arrive on a next-generation console. Of course, it’s worth remembering that the game is supposed to be able to run on current gen as well.
More details surrounding the performance of the game may come to light when Ubisoft holds its digital event that’s to take place in July. Until then, if you want to pre-order the game on Amazon for PS4 or Xbox One, you can do. The game will launch on PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
