Tomorrow, on the 7th of April, Respawn will be launching The Old Ways, a new “Lore Event” for Apex Legends. The event, which features new cosmetics, the permanent return of Duos, and a town takeover for World’s Edge, will be live for the next two weeks. However, much of the event’s content will remain in the game beyond its end.
The Apex Legends The Old Ways Lore Event
The Old Ways follows a new format of Apex Legends event, referred to be Respawn as a “Lore Event”. It doesn’t feature the wealth of event cosmetics that the more common Collection Events include, but does still feature an exclusive event prize track. By completing daily challenges, players will be able to progress along the track and unlock rewards. Additionally, a range of new cosmetic items will be available in the direct-purchase shop, along with returning cosmetics from last year’s Legendary Hunt event.
Much of the headline features in The Old Ways, however, will actually be permanent additions to the game. The new town takeover, for instance; Bloodhound’s Trials, will be a permanent new area on the World’s Edge map. As the trailer shows, this area will allow players to face off against AI enemies for a chance to earn high-value gear. Additionally, The Old Ways sees the return of a Duos mode to Apex Legends. However, unlike previous times when Duos has been made playable, this time the mode will be coming to the game permanently.
Finally, The Old Ways will be bringing a permanent map rotation option to Apex Legends, which will be available beyond the end of the event. Throughout Season 4, Respawn have been regularly bringing Kings Canyon back to the game, but only for short durations. As of tomorrow, it will become permanently available alongside World’s Edge for the first time. The non-permanent parts of the event – the prize track and cosmetics on offer in the shop – will be available until The Old Ways ends on the 21st of April.
