The Modern Warfare error code Crimson appears whenever a purchase has failed. Typically, the Crimson error code only appears when users attempt to purchase something from the in-game store. Unfortunately, that means the error also appears when the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered purchase fails.
For now, there’s no known fix to the Crimson error. Several users across the Modern Warfare sub reddit as well as the official Activision forums have reported encountering the error when trying to purchase items. Though it seems to appear often alongside MW2 Remastered, the error sometimes pops up when trying to buy the battle pass or claim any other bonus items.
So far, Activision has yet to provide any more insight on what the problem is. With that said, several users have shared advice on what to do. The suggestions oftentimes include restarting your system or reinstalling the game. One user on the Activision forums suggests clearing the device’s cached data in order to remove any compatibility problems. Unfortunately, we can’t very whether or not this works.
If you get hit with the Modern Warfare error code Crimson, you should reach out to Activision support. If the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered purchase fails, you won’t be able to download the game or redeem any bonus items. Until we get an official fix from the developers, you’d be wise not to try spending any more cash.
