Activision has officially announced the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship; the first major esports tournament for the massive mobile title. Organised in collaboration with Sony Mobile, the upcoming World Championship will begin on the 30th of April, in just a couple of days’ time. Although it’s currently unknown how long the tournament will last, Activision has revealed that it has a prize pool of $1 million!
The First Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship
If you want to enter the first-ever Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship, all you need to do is be eligible to play ranked mode on Veteran I or higher rank. You’ll need to have reached this rank by the time the Championship starts on the 30th. Note that you must rank up in Multiplayer, rather than Battle Royale, in order to compete. (This Championship is presumably a Multiplayer championship after all, rather than one featuring battle royale.)
According to Activision, the upcoming Mobile Championship will offer players a final prize pool of $1 million. This pool will be split between several winning shares. However, the publisher has yet to reveal the precise details about how this prize money will be won by players. Similarly, they have yet to offer details about what the structure of the championship will be like once it starts. However, with the tournament just two days away from launching, these details are likely to be revealed very soon.
What Activision has said is that players will need to; “master the beginning stages of the tournament,” before they have the chance to compete for prize money. As such, it sounds as though there will be a range of different qualifying rounds before the tournament enters its final stages. For now, players interested in competing should focus on playing Ranked as much possible. After all, you’ll need to ensure that you have hit at least Veteran I before the Championship starts on the 30th.
