PlayStation VR has proven itself as a viable platform for innovative gaming, with Sony releasing groundbreaking titles every week from a variety of developers. Now well established in it’s second year, PSVR is hitting its stride, with a variety of quality games reaching critical mass and meriting mainstream attention.
With games like Blood and Truth, Beat Saber, Trover Saves The Universe, and AstroBot Rescue Mission bringing multitudes of new gamers into the VR fold, we thought we would shine a light on new (and possibly lesser-known) titles as they release.
This is indeed a very slow time of year for PSVR. Last week, there were no releases, and only one game saw light the week before that. This week, we will be looking at the single game coming out in a bit more detail – as it has been around for a while on Steam.
Bullet Sorrow VR
Bullet Sorrow VR appeared on Steam way back in April, 2017 – the second game from developer VikingVRStudio after their initial release of Space Jones VR in 2016.
On PC VR, Bullet Sorrow VR definitely contains a competitive multiplayer FPS mode – though it is unclear from the descriptions we have located online for the PSVR release whether this mode will be included. While there may or may not be multiplayer, fans of the original release are quick to point out that the single players levels are pretty good.
Most of the reviews on Steam (where Bullet Sorrow VR holds a “Very Positive” rating) favorably compare the game to Time Crisis, noting the extremely accurate shooting and the self-proclaimed “super-neat bullet time”. Most of the reviews I read were a little older, and while they were complaining that the game only had three single-player levels, it is clear that the devs have done some work on the title since release – adding in free locomotion and an infinite mode.
It is unclear how much of this work will be included in the PSVR release, as some titles are ported from PC VR with modes missing, while others appear as “definitive edition”-type victory laps. PlayStation Universe will post any further details as they become available – and of course, there is a chance that we may still get a copy of the game for review.
The official blurb from the PlayStation Blog reads as follows:
“Bullet Sorrow VR is a FPS VR game which also contains full-story single stages to discover. Using progressive Bullet Time abilities and a bunker-cover system, evade attacks and move on!”
