Following on from the recent launch of Modern Warfare’s second Season, Infinity Ward today launched their first mid-season update. Alongside a few minor fixes, the update officially enabled the new Modern Warfare Gunfight Tournaments, continuing the roll-out of new content in Season 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Tournaments
Although plenty of new content launched on the 11th of February with the official start of Season 2, including several new maps and game modes, Gunfight Tournaments were not included in that initial offering. They were actually listed as one of several modes which would be coming later in the season, alongside Infected Ground War and NVG Reinforce. However, it seems that Infinity Ward didn’t want to keep Gunfight fans waiting!
As of today’s update, the Modern Warfare Gunfight Tournaments are now live and playable in-game. The first Gunfight Tournament beta actually first went live back in late-November. As such, fans have been hoping for their full release ever since. Whether it’s taken this long to get them ready, or whether Infinity Ward were simply waiting for the launch of Season 2, is unknown. Whatever the case, the wait is now over; fans of Gunfight can now indulge their more competitive streaks as much as they like.
Alongside the launch of Gunfight Tournaments, Infinity Ward also updated their playlists for Valentine’s Day. (Note that various playlists also now feature 2XP and 2X Weapon XP, denoted by a marker next to the playlist.) Plus, the patch itself includes a few fixes across various maps and modes. Perhaps most notably, Tavorsk District has actually been temporarily removed while the devs work on bug-fixes. It’s currently unknown when it will become available again. Following on from the Valentine’s Day update, Infinity Ward will apparently be releasing another new mode next week. “After a sappy Valentine’s Day weekend,” writes Infinity Ward; “nothing kicks off a fresh week better than NVG Reinforce…”
