Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players are enjoying the game and would not mind if Activision didn't do another Call of Duty game in 2020. Players agree that the game offers so much content and would love if Activision decided to continue supporting the game for years to come.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the best installments in the popular shooter series in the last couple years and many players, including some of our AltChar fellas, are enjoying the game each day. Of course, just like any other online shooter at launch, Modern Warfare was not perfect and it took time before Infinity Ward fixed the majority of some glaring issues.
Right now, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is at its best state since the release back in October 2019 and players are starting to appreciate the hard work of the developers. Over at Reddit, a new thread appeared, where thousands of players agree that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the first game that should be supported for years to come.
The majority of players say that they would be completely fine if Activision did not come out with another Call of Duty game this year. "The upkeep and overall development of this game has been phenomenal. This is the first Call of Duty that I would actually be fine with if they delayed the next one, or didn’t even release one altogether," Reddit user I-AM-NOT-THAT-DUCK wrote in the original post , which has over 10k upvotes at the time of writing.
Others joined in, saying that they would rather see Activision keep improving Modern Warfare with new content updates rather than starting from scratch each year, similarly to how Ubisoft support their online shooter Rainbow Six Siege.
While it is nice to see that one of the most vocal communities around is happy with Modern Warfare at the moment, it would be really surprising if Activision actually decided to release content updates for Modern Warfare for the next three or four years. Simply put, that is not how the company works at the moment and the development of the next Call of Duty game is well underway.
However, according to some earlier rumours, Activision could release a free-to-play battle royale mode for Modern Warfare named Call of Duty: Warzone, which is apparently a standalone title, meaning that it could be supported with content updates much longer than the standard Call of Duty titles.
It remains to be seen if this will indeed end up being the case, though.
